Odisha recorded eight more deaths due to coronavirus infection on Friday, taking the total numbers of deaths in the state to 177. With this, 1,499 new cases of Covid-19 in the state, the total numbers of infected cases crossed 31,000 mark. An official said on Friday that the total numbers of coronavirus cases in the state is 31,877.
Four died in Ganjam district
The official said that of the eight more people who died due to the epidemic, four died in Ganjam district and one patient each in Gajapati, Khurda, Nayagarh and Sundergarh.
“It is sad to inform that eight Covid-19 patients died while undergoing treatment in hospitals,” the official said, adding that new cases of infected were reported in 29 out of 30 districts of the state.
The official further said that 368 new cases were recorded in Ganjam district. After this, 214 people were found infected in Khurda, 81 in Keonjhar and 75 in Sundergarh. Of the total 31,877 patients of coronavirus, 19,746 have recovered. There are 11,917 people still infected in the state. The official said 14,335 samples of Covid-19 were tested on Thursday in Odisha.
Total coronavirus cases in the country are now 16,38,870

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours i.e. from 8 am Thursday to 8 am Friday, there have been 55,078 new cases of coronavirus recoded across the country. After these cases, the total coronavirus cases in the country are now 16,38,870.
During the last 24 hours 779 people have died due to coronavirus
Not only the new cases of coronavirus are coming out but the numbers of people who lost their lives due to coronavirus are also increasing continuously. According to the Ministry of Health, during the last 24 hours 779 people have died due to coronavirus in the country. Till now, this deadly virus has caused a total death of 35747 people.
However, it is a matter of relief that the numbers of people recovering from the coronavirus are also increasing rapidly. During the last 24 hours, 37,223 people have completely recovered from coronavirus across the country. So far, a total of 10,57,805 people across the country have completely recovered from the coronavirus. The numbers of active cases of coronavirus in the country is above 5.45 lakh mark.
