Coronavirus: BCCI’s Medical Team Issues Guidelines to Indian Players before ODI series

The BCCI medical team has released a guideline for the players of the Indian team before the ODI series against South Africa. The medical team has instructed players to avoid eating outside and stay away from fans who want selfies. So far, more than 60 cases of coronavirus have been found in India. Keeping this in mind, the BCCI medical team gave some specific instructions to the Indian team before the first ODI against South Africa at Dharamshala.

The BCCI said that the medical team of the board is monitoring the current condition of coronavirus. All the players, team support staff, state associations have been informed about the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health, Government of India. These guidelines are also likely to be adopted in IPL starting on 29 March. The Shooting World Cup and the Indian Open Golf Tournament have been postponed so far in India due to the Coronavirus.

Players have been assigned a list of what to do and what not to do to maintain their own hygiene. It also states that they should avoid eating food in restaurants that do not know about cleanliness standards or are compromised. Players have also been asked to avoid making close contact with or speaking to an outsider. The guidelines also ask players to avoid shaking hands and not to use an unknown phone for selfies.

The BCCI has directed airlines, team hotels, state associations, and medical teams to clean all facilities. The board has said that all the toilets in the stadium will have handwash and sanitizer. The medical team and the first aid personnel present in the stadium will keep a record of all patients seeking treatment.
