Corona Virus: PPE Kits Will Be Made in UP’s Jails

A week ago, as soon as the corona positive patients of Tabligi Jamaat started arriving at Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow, mobilizing the necessary resources in the hospital also became a challenge. The most needed was the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kit which was to be used by doctors, paramedical staff and sanitation workers.

The government sent a large number of PPE kits to the hospital, but the director of the hospital, Dr. Rajeev Lochan wanted to increase the number of PPE kits in the reserve as well. For this, he contacted the Director General of Police Jail Anand Kumar.

Inmates of UP jails were already making masks and sanitizers and Dr. Rajiv Lochan suggested them to prepare PPE kits. Anand Kumar came to know that in Lucknow's Adarsh jail, there are some prisoners who, if trained, can prepare PPE kits. Then such prisoners were identified and they were given online training.

The necessary materials for preparing PPE kits were collected at Adarsh Jail in Lucknow. In just two days, the inmates of Adarsh jail prepared PPE kits. Doctors of Balrampur Hospital wore this PPE kit and tested it. The doctors were so satisfied with the quality of this PPE kit that Balrampur Hospital immediately ordered the Adarsh Jail of Lucknow to prepare 150 PPE kits.

DG Jail Anand Kumar says, "Balrampur Hospital had demanded 150 PPE kits, in which 50 kits have been prepared and supplied to them. Soon all PPE kits will be prepared and handed over to the hospital. On receiving orders from other hospitals, PPE kits will also be started in other jails.
