Corona Virus Cases Rose to 29 in North East, 25 Infected in Assam Alone

Five more new coronavirus cases have been reported from the northeastern region of the country on Saturday. With this, the total number of corona cases in the Northeast has increased to 29, including 25 infected people in the state of Assam alone. Ministers and officials gave this information. Out of a total of 29 positive cases in the area, 26 had participated in the Tablighi Jamaat program in Nizamuddin Markaz, Delhi. A Manipuri girl and a person from Mizoram were found infected after returning from Britain and the Netherlands last month.

Another 52-year-old Assam businessman from Kamrup (metro) district has also been diagnosed with the infection, whose samples were reported positive on Friday night. Apart from 29 positive cases in the northeast region, four people from Assam and two from Tripura who joined the Jamaat congregation have also been found infected.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave information about the latest cases of Novel Corona virus in his separate tweet. Sarma said that five more people from North Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup and Mariga districts of the state have been found to be corona positive on Friday late night and Saturday. In this way the number of corona patients in the state has reached 25.

The Health Minister said that four persons from Assam who had participated in the religious program but remained in Delhi, have now been found infected in their samples. Citing the statement of the Central Government, Sarma said that 550 to 600 people from Assam attended the tabligi meeting. He said, samples of about 500 of these attendees have been collected and their reports are awaited.

In Agartala, Tripura Health Secretary Debashish Basu said that two people from Tripura, who participated in the Tablighi Jamaat program, have developed a corona infection and are now in an exile center in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
