On Friday, five vehicles of Kanwariyas were returned from the Shyampur border. 120 vehicles were returned from Narvan, Chidiyapur, Shyampur, Bhagwanpur. These people were coming to Haridwar and did not have RTPCR negative reports. When the vehicle owners were asked to get the test done at the border, they refused. At the same time, after the postponement of the Kanwar Mela, the strictness of the police has been increased on the border of Haridwar district. Shravan month is also starting from 25th July. Devotees residing in different corners of the country come to worship their Gurus living in Haridwar on Guru Purnima, but this time devotees have to bring their 72 hours before Covid negative report to come to seek blessings from the Guru.

The spread of the Covid-19 infection

Entry is being given only by showing a negative report at the border. However, even after this, a ban on bathing in the Ganges was asked, but still, there was a crowd of people on the ghats. DM C Ravi Shankar had issued its orders on Thursday.

He said that because of the spread of the Covid-19 infection, the Uttarakhand government has banned Kanwar Yatra in Sawan. This can lead to the possibility of spreading the infection. Therefore, bathing at the Guru Purnima festival will be symbolic.
