According to sources, Vijayan has now insisted that it will be the responsibility of the airlines to ensure that all incoming passengers wear PPE kits. Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who has been urging not to implement Vijayan's 'impractical' suggestions, has welcomed his new decision.

Chandy said, "Our only demand is that any decision taken should be practical. It was impractical to insist on a health certificate. How is it possible for our people to get it, when many countries in the Middle East do not have such facilities with respect to PPE kits, we urge the Government of Kerala to provide protective things to the passengers. "At the same time, Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said that it is very unfortunate that a person like Vijayan has no idea what he is doing.

Senior Union Muslim League leader and Lok Sabha member P.K. Kunhalikutty said that one has failed to understand why Vijayan is taking 'impractical decisions' regarding bringing back migrants from Kerala. From what he is doing, it is clear that he does not want our expatriates to return and now this new decree to wear PPE kits has arrived," he said. It should be noted that 80,000 people have returned from abroad in Kerala since May 7.
