Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has alleged that the Congress party is defending fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi. Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that Nirav Modi is now arrested and extradition process is going on against him, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that a member of the Congress party who is a retired judge is defending Nirav Modi in court. The retired judge Ravi Shankar Prasad referred to is named Abhay Thipsay and has been a judge in the Mumbai and Allahabad High Courts.
Prior to Ravi Shankar Prasad, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Sambit Patra also targeted the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi over Abhay Thipsay's testimony, Sambit Patra wrote in his tweet message, "Here in India Rahul Gandhi take Nirav Modi, ask questions from, on the other hand, Rahul's special and Congress's Abhay Tipsay (former judge) become a witness in favor of Nirav Modi, why is it that Rahul does not want Nirav to come India? In fact, Abhay Thipsay, in testimony via video conferencing, told a London court that the charges against Nirav of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would not survive under Indian laws.
