Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachia, arrested in the drugs case, have been sent to judicial custody by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court till 4 December. Bharti will be kept in Kalyan jail and Harsha will be kept in Taloja jail. The bail application of both will be heard on Monday. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) produced both in the court.
The NCB sought Bharti’s judicial custody and Harsha’s remand, but the court sent both to the judicial custody. The court gave 2 arrested drug peddlers on Friday on NCB remand till 25 November.
Harsh was financing the drugs
The NCB arrested Harsha on Sunday morning after 18 hours of questioning. Section 27A of the Narcotics Act-1986 has been imposed on him. That is, the streams of finance and transportation of drugs have been imposed. Earlier, Bharti was arrested on Saturday after three and a half hours of questioning. Bharti’s night passed in NCB’s Woman’s Cell. On Saturday, 86.5 grams of ganja was found from Bharti’s home and office during NCB’s raid. She confessed to taking cannabis with husband Harsh.
According to sources, the NCB also questioned Bharti and Harsh in front of a drug paddler, after which both of them confessed to taking cannabis. The drug peddler had named Bharti and Harsh in the interrogation on Friday. After this, NCB raided their homes and offices in Andheri, Lokhandwala and Versova on Saturday. The staff of Bharti’s house was also questioned.
Can be jailed for 6 months
An NCB official said that the quantity of hemp recovered from Bharti Singh’s house is less under the law. Hemp up to one kilo is considered of low quality. In such cases, there can be a jail term of up to 6 months or a fine of Rs 10,000 or both.
