Chidambaram’s Judicial Custody May Increase Again

In the INX Media case, accused P Chidambaram will appear in Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi today

Former Home Minister P Chidambaram, accused in the INX Media Case, will appear in Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi today. Chidambaram's 14-day judicial custody ends today. If the Enforcement Directorate (ED) does not seek custody today, judicial custody of Chidambaram could increase. Let me tell you, Chidambaram's bail petition will be heard in the Delhi High Court on 23 September.

The former Finance Minister, arrested in the INX Media case, moved the Delhi High Court on September 11 for his bail. Chidambaram has also challenged the CBI court order of 14 days judicial custody in the INX Media case. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Chidambaram is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in judicial custody. He has challenged the judicial custody order given by Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar.

Chidambaram alleged that the INX media case was motivated by political vendetta and the investigating agency was acting at the behest of the Center. In his applications filed before the Delhi High Court, Chidambaram said, "Immediate criminal action in this case is a malicious case, born out of political vendetta." The investigating agency is acting at the behest of the Center, which seeks to tarnish the impeccable image of the petitioner.
