MNREGA is a major source of livelihood for rural people. About 66 lakh people in the state get employment through MNREGA. He said that there is a livelihood crisis for these people due to the lockdown. In such a situation, the central government should release 1016 crore rupees for the payment of MNREGA workers so that the laborers can be paid.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said in his letter that the announcements made by the Union Finance Minister on March 26 to provide assistance to the people were commendable, which has brought relief to large sections of the society. But a large section of the society is still deprived of receiving benefits from those announcements. Especially the landless laborers coming under the MNREGA scheme and the workers in the unorganized sector, their living conditions are bound to be difficult in the present circumstances.

CM Bhupesh Baghel has advised the MNREGA and unorganized sector workers in the accounts of one thousand per month for the next three months in front of the central government. Along with this, the demand of giving Rs 750 per month to all Jan Dhan account holders in their accounts for the next 3 months has also been placed before the central government.
