The twentieth edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards was attended by scores of Bollywood celebrities. While Ranveer Singh walked with the best actor award for Padmaavat, Alia Bhatt won the best actor for her role in Raazi.

Talking about accepting the award, Alia stated, "The fact that you are all sitting here past 2:00 am and watching us being honoured means you all love cinema and that's why we continue to do what we are doing. It feels surreal to hold this IIFA award for Raazi and to be nominated alongside talented actors… who were my inspiration to become an actor."

National Award winner Vicky Kaushal bagged the award in the Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Male) category for Sanju.

Aside from these, this year the IIFA had unique awards which were presented upon Deepika Padukone for Chennai Express, Ranbir Kapoor for Barfi, Rajkumar Hirani for 3 Idiots, Pritam for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil while the film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai likewise won an exceptional award in the Best Film over the most recent multi-year classification.

The award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema was given to the master of dance and choreography Saroj Khan by none other than Madhuri Dixit Nene who even paid tribute to the veteran choreographer by dancing on some the songs choreographed by the ace star. Aside from her, the master of comedy, Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, otherwise called Jagdeep was additionally given the special award for his marvelous work on the silver screen.
