Central Cabinet Recommends President’s Rule: Maharashtra
Despite the day-long political upheaval in Maharashtra, the screw of government formation has become more entangled. Today, on Tuesday, it can be decided that there will be a government in the state or President's rule will apply. Bhagat Singh Koshiyari has recommended President's rule in the state. At the same time, Shiv Sena has decided to go to Supreme Court in the event of President's rule. ANI quoted sources as saying that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has spoken to Congress leader Kapil Sibal on the issue of challenging the case in the event of President's rule. However, nothing has been officially cleared yet.
The news agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the Union Cabinet has also recommended President's rule in Maharashtra. However, the Governor has given NCP till 8:30 pm to give a letter of support to form the government. But if the NCP does not get the majority figure by 8:30 pm, then the President's rule in the state is considered fixed.
NCP leader Nawab Malik said that NCP met in which all 54 MLAs were present. In the meeting, it has been decided that in view of the uncertainty in the state, Sharad Pawar will decide on an alternative government. A committee will be formed under the leadership of Sharad Pawar.
