CBI Raids 13 Locations in Jammu and Kashmir and NCR

In the Arms License Case, CBI on Monday raided a total of 13 locations in Jammu and Kashmir and NCR. Officials said that this is the first major CBI operation in Jammu and Kashmir after it became a union territory. The residences of IAS officers Yash Mudgil Yasha Mudgil and Rajiv Ranjan as well as former senior officials have been searched.

According to officials, the Central Investigation Agency has raided about 13 locations in Srinagar, Jammu, Gurgaon and Noida. The case relates to alleged irregularities in the issuance of nearly two lakh arms licenses from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir. CBI officials searched the premises of the then Deputy Commissioners and District Magistrates of Kupwara, Baramulla, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Shopian, Rajouri, Doda, Pulwama in this case.

According to the officials, it is alleged that the then government officials issued licenses to the non-residents of Jammu and Kashmir flouting the rules. It is also alleged that from 2012 to 2016, two lakh arms licenses were issued from districts like Doda, Ramban, Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. The investigation found that more than four lakh arms licenses were issued in the entire state, out of which two lakhs are suspected to be fake.

Officials said that these raids of CBI were carried out by deputy commissioners and district magistrates. The case was busted by the Rajasthan ATS (anti-terror squad, ATS). The case was referred to the CBI on the recommendation of Rajasthan DGP OP Galhotra. The Rajasthan ATS arrested several people during the investigation in the case.
