Capital Delhi is Witnessing Tremendous Changes in Terms of Environment

One of the most polluted cities in the world, Delhi, the capital of India, is witnessing tremendous changes in terms of environment.  Delhi's air has never been so clear in the last several years.  However this positive change has come due to a negative cause and that is the global outbreak of Coronavirus.

In many countries due to the Coronavirus the noise of the vehicles has stopped due to the lockdown, the smoke emanating from the factories is missing.  This has resulted in improved air quality, but we have the example of China, which suggests that this improvement will be only temporary.  If the lockdown opens, this positivity will again cover the smoke and pollution will again peak, where the most influential change has been seen in Delhi.  Delhi is one of the most polluted cities in the world.  The bulk of pollution comes from vehicles.  This is why Delhi has seen a tremendous decrease in nitrogen oxide levels.  Air pollution, usually measured with PM 2.5 (particles of 2.5 micrometers or less), is made up of a combination of several factors.  This includes traffic, factories as well as natural phenomena such as hurricanes and fires and cooking with solids.

India and Spain have implemented a strict lockdown to deal with the Corona crisis.  This has resulted in a significant reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions this April compared to April 2019.  According to Statista, air quality has also improved in Britain, the United States and Mexico.  Nitrogen oxide is the gas emitted by most vehicles and factories.
