BWF Decides to Cancel Swiss Open, European Championship due to COVID-19

The World Badminton Federation (BWF) canceled the Swiss Open and European Championships on Wednesday after not finding suitable dates this year.

The coronavirus epidemic continues to impact the schedule of international badminton and now the World Badminton Federation (BWF) canceled the Swiss Open and European Championships on Wednesday after not finding suitable dates this year. The BWF said the Swiss Open was to be held from March 17 to 22 but was postponed due to the epidemic. The European Championship was also scheduled to be held from April 21 to 26 but has been postponed and canceled.

Earlier, it was decided to cancel the Hyderabad Open Badminton tournament to be held in Hyderabad, India from 11 to 16 August. The World Badminton Federation (BWF) took this decision on 4 June in view of COVID-19. The BWF had said, "The BWF and Badminton Association of India have agreed to cancel the Hyderabad Open 2020 (11 to 16 August), a Super 100 tournament of the BWF Tour. The tournament was part of the revised BWF calendar that was created to restore the game after the tournament was canceled since March due to an epidemic."

PGA Tour to begin with Charles Schwab Challenge:

The PGA Tour will begin with the Charles Schwab Challenge Golf Tournament starting on Thursday after being closed for three months due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Some of the world's top golfers are also participating in this tournament. Golf competitions have been closed for the last 91 days after the players' championship was canceled.

This is the first time since World War II that no golf tournament has been held for so many days. In the FedEx Cup, the top five players of the world will be seen playing in this tournament in addition to the currently running top Sungjei IM.  The Sanford Health Lab technician has set up a test unit that will deliver results within a few hours. The players will be tested immediately after arriving here for the tournament.
