Food delivery platform Zomato has launched 'Pure Veg Mode' and 'Pure Veg Fleet' for customers following a 100% vegetarian diet in India. Zomato Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Deepinder Goyal gave this information by sharing a post on social media platform X on Tuesday (March 19).
Deepinder Goyal wrote in the post, 'Compared to all the countries of the world, India has the highest percentage of vegetarians. We have received the most important feedback from them. That is, they pay very special attention to how their food is cooked and how their food is handled.
To address the dietary preferences of vegetarians, we are today launching 'Pure Veg Fleet' (a separate team of delivery persons) on Zomato as well as 'Pure Veg Mode' for customers who have 100% vegetarian dietary preferences. We do.
This feature will be rolled out in a phased manner across the country in the next few weeks. We are committed to listening to our customers and serving our community in the best possible way.
Zomato CEO said that in 'Pure Veg Mode' only restaurants serving vegetarian food will be available. Restaurants offering non-vegetarian items will not be included in this mode. Deepinder said that this mode does not fulfill any religious and political preferences.
Zomato's Pure Veg fleet will use green delivery boxes instead of the standard red delivery boxes. Deepinder said that these delivery persons will deliver orders only from pure vegetarian restaurants and will not handle any non-vegetarian items. Apart from this, they will also not enter non-vegetarian restaurants with green delivery boxes.
Goyal said, 'Our dedicated pure veg fleet will cater only to orders from pure veg restaurants. This means that non-veg meals or even vegetarian meals served from non-veg restaurants will never go inside the green delivery boxes meant for our pure veg fleet.
