Instant messaging app WhatsApp has rolled out new security features. WhatsApp claims that these new features will give users more security and privacy than before.
These features include alerts, back end checks for viruses, etc., and automated security code verification, etc. With this, users will get protection from fraud through viruses.
This is for the privacy and security of the app. You can update your WhatsApp app to get all the three features. WhatsApp wrote in its blog post that, 'These features will give more security to your account. At WhatsApp, we believe that your messages should be as private and secure as personal conversations.
WhatsApp further wrote that, 'Protecting your personal messages with default end-to-end encryption is the basis of that security. We won't stop building new features to give you extra layers of privacy and more control over your messages.'
WhatsApp further wrote that, 'A lot of this work happens behind the scenes and you don't have to do anything. Today, we're excited to tell you about some of the additional security features we'll be adding over the coming months.'
Account Protect: Under the new feature, if users switch their WhatsApp account to a new device, the system will ask for verification on your old device to verify that it is you who is checking your account on the new device. The advantage of this is that it will alert you when someone else tries to open your account.
Device Verification: WhatsApp has introduced device verification feature to protect user's account from mobile device malware. This feature will prevent the user from sending messages to others without his permission. Due to which no one will be able to misuse the user's account through malware.
Automatic Security Code: This feature is given to maintain the privacy of the users. In which the user himself will be able to verify the secure connection.
