Musk's team can focus on states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu

According to the report, the team's focus for the electric car manufacturing plant will be on automotive hub states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The report quoted sources as saying that some vehicle manufacturers also have plants in Haryana, but Tesla's factories will be in other three states. The reason for this is the ports of these states, from where export of cars will be easy.

The government had approved the new EV policy on March 15

This news of Tesla's entry in India has come at a time when the Central Government has approved its new EV policy to make India a hub for manufacturing of electric vehicles. In the new policy, there is a provision for companies to invest a minimum of ₹ 4150 crore and there is no limit on the maximum investment.

According to the policy, foreign car manufacturing companies will have to start their manufacturing and commercial production of EVs in the country within three years of starting business in India. A notification in this regard was issued today (March 15) by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI).

Musk wants to set up a battery storage factory in India

According to media reports, Tesla wants to manufacture and sell battery storage systems along with electric cars in India. The company had given a proposal to the Indian authorities for this.
