Tata Motors has received the approval certificate of Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) today i.e. on 12th December for its Tata Starbus 4/12 FCEV and its other variants. With this, Tata Starbus has become India's first certified green hydrogen fuel cell EV bus.

ARAI Director Reggie Mathai handed over the CRVR certificate to Tata Motors CTO Rajendra Petkar at a program on Tuesday. Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) gave this information on its Twitter handle.

ARAI says Tata Motors' Star Bus 4/12 fulfills all the notified provisions of CMVR and is the first OEM in India to receive CMVR approval certificate.

What is ARAI's CMVR certification?

ARAI is an automotive research and development (R&D) association that tests vehicles under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). This includes testing the range of electric vehicles, mileage of ICE vehicles and their top speed etc.

After ARAI's test, auto maker companies are issued a certificate for their models, in which the mentioned range or mileage is considered as certified range or mileage.
