The Central Government has extended the subsidy of Rs 300 given on LPG cylinder under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana till March 31, 2025. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Thursday, March 7. Union Minister Piyush Goyal informed about the decisions of the cabinet.
The Union Minister said that more than 10 crore women will benefit from this scheme. The number of subsidized cylinders has also been increased. Earlier subsidy was available on 10 cylinders, now it has been increased to 12.
Under the scheme, the beneficiaries are given free gas cylinder and gas stove for the first time. The subsidy received under the scheme is deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. So far, more than 10.28 crore connections have been given in the country. In August, the Cabinet had approved adding 75 lakh more beneficiaries under the scheme.
The applicant must be female.
The age of the woman should be above 18 years.
The woman should be from BPL family.
The woman should have BPL card and ration card.
LPG connection should not be in the name of any family member of the applicant.
No need to submit address proof
To avail the benefits of Ujjwala scheme, migrants will not need to submit ration card and address proof. Needy families can now avail the benefits of this scheme by giving their self-verified application.
