Maruti Suzuki has launched the CNG variant of the sub-compact SUV Franks in the Indian market. The company has introduced the new Maruti Suzuki Frankx S-CNG at a starting price of Rs 8.42 lakh (Delhi, ex-showroom). The company claims that the car will give a mileage of 28.51km in one kilogram of CNG.
The company has introduced Maruti Suzuki Franks S-CNG in two variants Sigma and Delta. The CNG variant of the Franks is Rs 95,000 more expensive than the petrol manual variant. Maruti has started booking the car and its deliveries will start soon. In the segment, the Franks will compete with the CNG variant of the recently launched Hyundai Xter. The company introduced the Franks at the Auto Expo in January this year.
This is the 15th CNG model from Maruti Suzuki in the country. The company's CNG portfolio includes Dzire VXi, Wagon R Tour H3, Grand Vitara 1.5 Delta, Artiga VXi, Tour S-STD (O), Brezza ZXi, Brezza VXi, Swift VXi, Artiga Tour M, S-Presso VXi, Grand Vitara 1.5 Zeta, S-Presso LXI, Ertiga ZXi, Baleno Delta and Wagon R VXI.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with two engine options. The S-CNG variant has a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated bi-fuel petrol engine, which generates 88.5 BHP power and 113 NM torque in petrol mode. Whereas, in CNG mode it produces 76.5 BHP of power and 98.5 NM of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. A claimed mileage of 28.51 km/kg is claimed with the Franks S-CNG. There is also an option of a 1.0-litre turbo booster jet petrol engine with the car which generates 100bhp power and 147.6 Nm peak torque. CNG option is not available with this engine.
