Former Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan can become the new managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). According to the British media, his name is leading the race for this position. The UK Foreign Ministry is demanding that she support this name on this position this time, after which Rajan's prospects have become strong.

Apart from Rajan in the race for the IMF, the name of former Governor of Bank of England Mark Carney, former Chancellor George Osborne of the David Cameron government and the former finance minister of the Netherlands, Jérône Dijsselblom is also running.

Significantly, the outgoing MD of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde had resigned last week. Their resignation will be effective from September 12. According to the Hindustan Times, Christine Lagarde is going to be the President of the European Central Bank. Prior to this, there was also a lot of discussion that Raghuram Rajan could be made Governor of the Bank of England. Although Rajan denied this, he said that he has not applied for this post.

This demand is increasing so that this time the IMF will be made to head out of major European and US markets. Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Britain, Tim Tugenhat, has sought this by writing a letter to Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt and according to the newspaper Sunday Times, 53-year-old Rajan seems to be the strongest contender.

The Sunday Editor's Economic Editor David Smith wrote, "It is a good time to get the post to a candidate emerging market. Former Governor of India Central Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan is suitable for this because he has been a former economist. Rajan is currently a professor at Chicago University.

Raghuram Govind Rajan was the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He was born on 3 February 1963 in Bhopal. After retiring D. Subbarao on September 4, 2013, he assumed the charge and remained in the post till September 2016.

Earlier, during the UPA Government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Chief Economic Advisor and the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, Eric J. Mr. Gill has been an Eminent Service Professor of Finance. From 2003 to 2006 he was the Chief Economist and Research Director of the International Monetary Fund. He also led a committee appointed by the Planning Commission for financial reform in India.

In 1985, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He made an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 1987 and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1991 he did his PhD in Economics.
