On Thursday, new rates of petrol and diesel have been issued by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the major among the public sector oil companies. With this, petrol in the country's capital Delhi has gone up to Rs 95.41 per litre and diesel at Rs 86.67 per litre. At the same time, there has been no change in the rates of petrol and diesel in the industrial capital of the country, Mumbai. Prices in Mumbai are 109.98 per litre of petrol and Rs 94.14 per litre of diesel. With this, petrol has become Rs 104.67 and diesel Rs 89.79 in Kolkata, while petrol is being sold at Rs 101.40 per litre and diesel Rs 91.43 per litre in Chennai.

Let us tell you that on the occasion of Diwali, on November 4, last year, on the occasion of Diwali, the excise duty was cut by Rs 5 and 10 to control the rising prices of petrol and diesel. After this, the BJP ruled states reduced VAT in their own right. A few days later, the Congress government of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Punjab also cut VAT. On Wednesday, the Kejriwal government also reduced the VAT on petrol from 30 per cent to 19.40 per cent.
