People suffering from the cost of expensive petrol and diesel can get the news of relief soon. Public sector oil companies are keeping an eye on the prices of crude in the international market. If there is a reduction in crude prices, then domestic oil companies can cut the prices of petrol and diesel by the end of this month.

Differences over production cuts

This week the price of crude in the international market had crossed $ 77 per barrel. However, there is a difference of opinion between OPEC and other crude producers over production cuts. Since then, the price of crude has been declining continuously. On Friday, July 9, Brent crude oil is trading 0.53% higher at $ 74.47 per barrel.

No change in petrol and diesel prices on Friday

Domestic oil companies did not change the prices of petrol and diesel on Friday. Today i.e. on July 9, petrol is being available in the capital Delhi at Rs 100.56 and diesel at Rs 89.62 per liter. However, the prices of petrol and diesel were increasing continuously for the last two days. With this increase, the price of petrol has crossed or near Rs 100 in most states of the country.

Petrol was Rs 90.40 per liter on May 1

On 1 May 2021, the price of petrol in the capital Delhi was Rs 90.40 per liter. Since then, ie in the last 69 days, petrol has increased by Rs 10.16 per liter to Rs 100.56 per liter. Similarly, diesel has also increased by Rs 8.89 per liter to Rs 89.42 per liter in the last two months.

Price increased 37 times in 70 days

Petrol and diesel prices have increased 37 times in 70 days so far in May, June and July. With this hike, the prices of petrol and diesel in the country have reached their highest level. If there is an atmosphere of softness in crude prices, then oil companies can cut the prices of petrol and diesel in the coming days. If this happens, then the customers suffering from the cost of expensive petrol and diesel can get relief.
