Orxa Energis has launched its first electric bike in the Indian market. The Bengaluru based startup claims that the bike gives a range of 221 kilometers on full charge. It will compete with Ultraviolette F77 in the premium electric bike segment.
The company has priced it at Rs 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and its booking has been started. The booking amount for the first 1000 customers has been fixed at Rs 10,000, after which the booking amount will increase to Rs 25,000. Orxa will deliver the bikes in different phases from April 2024, starting from Bengaluru.
Talking about the looks of Mantis, it has an angular design with a unique DRL design, a sculpted tank and twin projector headlight setup. Orxa claims that the Mantis is the lightest bike in its segment with a weight of 182 kg. Mantis has a split seat setup and will be available in two color options – Urban Black and Jungle Grey.
The bike is designed on an all-aluminium aerospace-grade alloy frame and subframe. The e-bikes run on 17-inch alloy wheels. These have front tires of 110/70-R17 section and rear tires of 130/70-R17 section.
For comfort riding, Mantis has been provided with 41mm telescopic fork front suspension and hydraulic mono-shock absorber with adjustable preload.
For braking, the bike has a single channel ABS setup. It gets a 320mm disc brake with a four-piston fixed calliper at the front and a 230mm disc brake with a single-piston floating calliper at the rear.
Orxa Mantis has a BLDC approved electric motor for performance. Which generates maximum power of 27.5 hp and torque of 93 Nm. The company claims that this bike can achieve speed of 0-100 kmph in 8.9 seconds and its top speed is 135 kmph.
