New Website of Income Tax Launched with New Payment System and Special Features

The new website has started on 7th June but the tax payment system will be started after the advance tax installment date on 18th June.

The Income Tax Department has launched a new e-filing portal late in the evening on 7th June. According to the Directorate of Income Tax, the official website for filing ITR has become incometax.gov.in. Earlier it was http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. The Income Tax Department had kept the website closed from 1-6th and said that the new website would be launched from 7th June. The new portal is called 'e-Filing 2.0'.

The mobile app will start on June 18

The new website has started on 7th June but the tax payment system will be started after the advance tax installment date on 18th June. Apart from this, the facility of a mobile app being given for the first time will also be started from June 18. With this, taxpayers will be able to do tax-related work on the app as well.

  • The new website is more user-friendly, which will make it easier to file Income Tax Return (ITR) and get a refund faster.
  • All transactions, uploads, and pending actions are visible on a single dashboard so that users can review them and take action as needed. That is, it will be easy to file ITR, review it and take any action.
  • ITR preparation software is available free of cost for both online and offline situations. It also has the facility to assist taxpayers and also has the option of pre-filing, so that minimum data entry has to be done.
  • A new tax payment system has been introduced in the new portal, which will have multiple payment options like Net Banking, UPI, RTGS, NEFT, etc.
  • A chatbot has been made available to answer the queries of taxpayers.
  • Return for the financial year 2020-21 is to be filed by 30 September
  • Income tax return for the financial year 2020-21 is to be filed by July 31. You will not have to pay any additional charges for filing income tax till this date.
