The country's largest car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki has achieved a major milestone of selling 25 million (25 million) vehicles in the domestic market. Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) on Monday released its domestic sales figures in India.
SMC said that its partner company Maruti Suzuki India achieved the figure of selling 25 million cars in India on 9 January 2023. Suzuki signed a joint venture agreement with Maruti in 1982. After this, for the first time in 1983, Maruti 800 was launched in the market.
In February 2012, the company achieved the figure of one crore car sales in the country and in July 2019. The company took almost 40 years to touch this figure. Maruti Suzuki launched the CNG model for the first time in India in August 2010. Since then, the company has sold around 21 lakh units of hybrid and CNG model cars.
The company is currently manufacturing and selling 17 models of cars. These include vehicles like Brezza, Swift, Swift Dzire, Ertiga, Baleno, Alto 800, Wagon R, Alto K10, Celerio, Eeco, XL6, S-Presso, Ignis, Ciaz, Eeco Cargo and Grand Vitara.
The company's focus is on hybrid (petrol and electric) and CNG models as well as electric vehicles. The company introduced its first electric car EVX at the recently held Delhi Auto Expo. Not only this, Maruti Suzuki is also strengthening its portfolio in view of the growing craze in the SUV segment. The company also showcased the 5 door Jimny and Frons at the expo.
