There was volatility in the market on the last day of the week. Sensex opened at 55,862.93 points and Nifty opened at 16,642.55. During trading, Nifty set a new record of 16,722 while Sensex was trading 10 points below the record level and finally Sensex climbed 176 points to 56,124 and Nifty climbed 68 points to close at 16,705.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 22 stocks rose and 8 stocks declined. In which the share of UltraTech Cement rose 3.64%. On the other hand, Infosys shares fell by 1.16%.
Trading is being done in 3,338 shares on BSE. In which 1,920 shares gained and 1,282 shares closed in the red mark. With this, the total market cap of companies listed on BSE has crossed Rs 243.65 lakh crore. Earlier on Thursday, the Sensex climbed 5 points to 55,949 and the Nifty climbed 2 points to close at 16,637.
During trading on the BSE, 166 shares were seen trading at a 52-week high and 18 shares were trading at a 52-week low. Apart from this, 379 shares got upper circuit while 182 shares got the lower circuit.
Earlier, the US stock market also saw a decline. The Dow Jones closed at 35,213 with a weakness of 0.54%. The Nasdaq fell 0.64% to 14,945 and the S&P 500 lost 0.58% to 4,469.
