Fortune Global 500 List 2022: The country's largest insurance company Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) was recently listed on the stock market. Life Insurance Corporation also joined the Fortune Global 500 list.
Whereas, India's most valuable in terms of market cap is the Mukesh Ambani-led private firm Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Reliance has jumped 51 places in the list.
LIC tops the list of In Indian companies, followed by eight other domestic companies. Of the nine Indian companies on the list, five are state-owned firms and four are private sector companies.
Tata Group-backed automobile and steel flagship companies also figure in the list, while SBI is the only bank to make it to the list. Most of the Indian firms were from the oil and gas sector.
LIC, the country's largest life insurer, is ranked 98th in the recently released Fortune 500 list with revenues of $97.26 billion and a profit of $553.8 million.
RIL jumped 51 places to 104 in the list of 2022. Reliance has been on the list for 19 years with revenues of $93.98 billion and a net profit of $8.15 billion.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) jumped 28 places to 142nd position, while Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) climbed 16 places to 190th position.
Two Tata Group companies are in this list - Tata Motors at 370th and Tata Steel at 435th. Rajesh Exports is at 437th position in the list.
SBI climbed 17 places to 236th and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) climbed 19 places to 295th.
American retail company Walmart tops the list of Fortune Global 500. It is noteworthy that the companies listed in the Fortune 500 list are ranked based on their sales.
