Last year, 546 flights faced technical glitches during domestic flights. Of these, the maximum number of 256 times such problems occurred with the aircraft of Indigo Airlines. After this, technical glitches were faced 143 times with SpiceJet aircraft and 97 times with Vistara Airlines aircraft. The Civil Aviation Ministry gave this information in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The ministry informed that apart from these three airlines companies, Air India has been booked 64 times, GoFirst 7 times, Akasa Airlines 6 times, Air Asia (India) 8 times, Alliance Air 3 times, Flybig 1 time, Trujet and Bluedart Aviation had to face technical difficulties once in a while during the flight.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, where there were 546 cases of technical fault in 2022, there were 544 such incidents in 2021. That is, in the last two years, airlines had to face technical difficulties 1090 times during the flight.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that last year eight aircraft had met with an accident during training. Asked if low-cost airlines are reporting more technical glitches in the country, Singh denied it.
The Civil Aviation Ministry told Parliament on Thursday that there were eight plane accidents during training last year, in which only one accident investigation has been completed. The ministry informed that currently 35 Flying Training Organizations (FTOs) are operating training programs from 53 bases in the country. These are approved by DGCA. Singh also told that there is no shortage of pilots in the country. Last year, the central government had issued licenses to 1165 commercial pilots.
In another written reply, Singh said, in June 2022, Airport Authority of India (AAI) will start flying at 5 airports - Bhavnagar (Gujarat), Hubli (Karnataka), Cuddapah (Andhra Pradesh), Kishangarh (Rajasthan) and Salem (Tamil Nadu). 6 slots were given for training. In 2021, AAI allotted 9 FTO slots at 5 airports at Belagavi (Karnataka), Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh) and Lilabari (Assam).
