Indigo Airline has fixed the seat selection fees from today i.e. 9th January. Choosing a front window or aisle seat on the 222-seat A321 aircraft will cost an extra ₹2,000. For the middle seat of the same row, the passenger will have to spend an additional Rs 1,500.

All second and third row seats will be available at a flat rate of ₹400. The charges for the 232-seat A321 aircraft and the 180-seat A320 aircraft are the same. On January 4, Indigo had announced the removal of fuel surcharge, after which the airline has made this major change in the seat selection fee.

Due to the continuously increasing prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from the beginning of October 2023, IndiGo started charging fuel charge. For this, fuel charges ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 were being collected.

Free seat available if you do not buy your preferred seat

Indigo said- We provide reservation option for preferred seats to our passengers. You can choose a window seat, aisle seat or a seat with extra legroom. If you do not want to purchase a preferred seat, you can select an available free seat or you will get an assigned seat at the time of check-in at the airport.

Understand with example...

Suppose the price of flight ticket from Bhopal to Bangalore is Rs 5000. If you want to travel on the window or aisle seat in the front, then you will have to pay Rs 2000 extra i.e. a total of Rs 7,000.

Whereas if you want to travel on the middle seat of the same line, you will have to spend Rs 1,500 extra. That means, total cost will be Rs 6500. There will be no extra charge for choosing a free seat or for a seat assigned at the time of check-in at the airport.
