Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has unveiled the exterior design of the upcoming car EXTER. The company can launch the car by June-August this year (Mid-2023). This car will compete with Tata Punch, Citroën C3 and Maruti Ignis in the micro SUV segment.

The EXTER micro SUV will be based on the platform of the Grand i10 Nios in Hyundai's lineup. The car has been spied several times during testing in India. The company says that the new SUV will give the customer the experience of smart mobility.

New grille and H-shaped LED DRLs

The front profile of the car looks aerodynamic and boxy in the sketch. It gets H-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) which are connected by a thin black strip. The company has given a completely new grille with a unique design in the car. LED projector headlamps are available on it. These projector headlamps are covered in two square shaped cases.

The front gets a faux silver skid plate towards the bottom. Apart from this, many other design elements like roof rails, flared wheel arches and tall boy look have also been seen in the car. It is expected to get H-shaped LED tail lamps, funky alloy wheels and electric sunroof.

The name of the car was announced on 14th April

Earlier, on April 5, Hyundai had shown the first glimpse of the car on the social media platform. Since then, updates related to the car are continuously coming out. The name of the car was officially confirmed by the company on 14 April. Then the outline of the micro SUV was shown in the teaser. In the earlier spy shots, the Exeter car got to see many unique visual elements like H-shaped LED DRLs, taillights and funky alloy wheels.

Hyundai Exter: Interior Design

Talking about the interior of the car, it will get a new-gen steering wheel like the Ionic 5 EV. The car will get a 42-inch full-digital instrument cluster on the dashboard and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Blue Link connectivity. Apart from this, features like auto climate control, mood lighting, ventilated driver seat and sunroof will also be provided in the car.

Hyundai Exter : Engine Powertrain

The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine can be given in Hyundai EXTER, which is given in Hyundai's Grand i10 Nios, i20 and Aura. This engine generates 82bhp power and 113Nm peak torque. With this, a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT transmission can be given in the car. The car is expected to deliver a mileage of 20.1 kmpl with this engine.

Safety Features and Expected Price

In terms of safety, the Exeter could get advanced features like lane keep assist, forward collision avoidance and blind spot detection. Talking about the price of the car, according to the reports, the price of Exter can start from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
