Honda Motorcycle India has launched the new Honda Hornet 2.0 in India. BS6 OBD2 compliant engine and new features have been given in the bike. Its initial price has been kept at Rs 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom).
The bookings for the bike have been started and the deliveries are expected to start from September in time for the festival season. The Hornet will rival the TVS Apache RTR 180 in India. Honda is offering 10 years warranty with the bike. This includes the option of 3 years standard and 7 years extra warranty.
In the design of the new Honda Hornet 2.0, only a few cosmetic changes have been made as compared to the previous generation. The bike gets LED headlights, sharp body panels along with new graphics on the fuel tank giving it an aggressive look. Apart from this, there is no major change in the bike.
The bike gets the same four color options as before – these include Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Sangria Red Metallic and Pearl Igneous Black.
184.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine has been given which generates maximum power of 17bhp at 8500rpm and torque of 15.9nm at 6000rpm. The engine has been prepared according to BS6 Phase-2 norms. That means the bike will also run on E-20 petrol.
The engine is tuned with a 5-speed gearbox and new assist and slipper clutch that smoothen upshifts and prevent rear wheel lock-up on hard downshifts during slow speeds.
The bike has been given up-side down (USD) front fork for comfort riding. The company claims that the Hornet is the first bike in the sub-200cc segment to feature mono-shock rear suspension. Apart from this, alloy wheels and split seat setup have also been given. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both wheels with single-channel ABS.
The bike comes with LED lighting setup. This includes the headlamps, taillamps and indicators. The new Hornet gets a fully digital instruments cluster with 5-level lighting control which shows various information like gear status indicator, service due indicator, trip computer, speed.
