The list of India's biggest donors has been released on Thursday (October 20). According to the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022, HCL's founder Shiv Nadar has come first in the list of billionaires who donated the most. At the same time, Azim Premji, the founder of Wipro company, has slipped to the second number.
Shiv Nadar donated Rs 1,161 crore during the financial year 2021-22. On a daily basis, it is Rs 3.18 crore. At the same time, Azim Premji donated Rs 484 crore this year, which translates to Rs 1.32 crore per day.
Shiv Nadar & Family, founder-chairman of HCL Technologies, is at number one in the list. Nadar has donated Rs 1,161 crore in the field of education.
Azim Premji is second in the list with a donation of Rs 484 crore. Azim Premji's donation has declined by 95% as compared to last year. Azim Premji Foundation donated 484 crores in the field of education. At the same time, last year he donated Rs 9,713 crore.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani is at number three in this list. Ambani also donated Rs 411 crore in the field of education.
Kumar Mangalam Birla & Family donated Rs 242 crore. He is at number four in this list. Aditya Birla Group made this donation in the healthcare sector.
Sushmita and Subroto Bagchi of IT company Mindtree are at number five. He has donated Rs 213 crore in the healthcare sector.
Radha and NS Parthasarathy of Mindtree are at number 6. He has also donated only Rs 213 crore in the healthcare sector.
Gautam Adani donated Rs 190 crore and he is at number 7 in the list. Adani Foundation has donated this money to the Disaster Relief Fund.
Anil Agarwal & Family is at 8th position in this list with a donation of Rs 165 crore. Anil Agarwal is the chairman of Vedanta Resources. He has also donated this money to the Disaster Relief Fund.
Infosys' Nandan Nilekani is at number 9 in the list with a donation of Rs 159 crore.
AM Naik, Group Chairman, Larsen & Toubro, donated Rs 142 crore to the healthcare sector. He is at number 10 in this list.
