Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. has slowed down the hiring process for this year. Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, Google's advertisement was declining for the last several weeks. Google CEO Sundar Pichai told his employees in an email on Wednesday that the company was considering other options to cut costs. He said the company is currently planning to invest in areas such as data centers and marketing. This investment will be done in a strategic area.

A Google spokesperson confirmed that the company would maintain hiring speed in 'a small number of strategic areas'. He said that many people have been hired but they have not yet started working. At the end of 2019, 118899 people got full-time jobs.

Google's announcement shows how Coronavirus has affected the world economy. Not only this, but some of the richest tech businesses are also being affected by the outbreak of this virus. The largest software company, Microsoft Corp. has recently stopped some of the recruits.

In comparison to the times when startup companies are laying off thousands of people from their jobs, Google currently remains a good place in terms of employees. But the company's revenue is likely to decline, as many businesses have cut advertising spending to save money. The Corona crisis has affected the retail and travel sectors the most and they advertise to Google the most.
