Tech company Apple launched iPhone 15 series and Apple Watch Series 9 in its Wanderlust event on Tuesday. Apart from this, Apple Watch Ultra 2 has also been launched. For the first time, the company has provided Type-C port for charging in its phones. Till now lightning port was available in it.

This time iPhone-15 has a 48-megapixel main camera. A16 Bionic chip is provided in iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. Whereas A17 Bionic chip will be available in iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Titanium has also been used in the Pro models.

In India, the price of 128 GB variant of iPhone-15 is Rs 79,900 and the price of 128 GB variant of iPhone-15 Plus is Rs 89,900. Whereas the 128 GB variant of iPhone 15 Pro will be available for Rs 1,34,900 and the 256 GB variant of Pro Max will be available for Rs 1,59,900.

Apple also launched Watch Series 9

The company has launched Apple Watch Series 9 in 8 color options. Double tap feature is provided in this watch. That means the phone call will be picked up by tapping the fingers twice. The phone will also be disconnected with a double tap. The company also launched Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Apple said that it will no longer use leather in any of its products. The price of GPS variant of Apple Watch Series 9 in America is $399. The GPS+Cellular is priced at $499 and the Watch Ultra 2 is priced at $799.

Foxconn is making iPhone 15 in India

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn is manufacturing iPhone 15 at its Tamil Nadu plant in India. To speed up production, Foxconn has also increased production lines at the Chennai plant. Every year in September, Apple launches many other products along with the new iPhone series.

iPhones being made in India since 2017

Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with the iPhone SE. It has three Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) partners – Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron. After iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 were also manufactured in India. Foxconn's plant is in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.

Apple is part of the PLI scheme of the Government of India

All three of Apple's contract manufacturers (Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron) are part of the Rs 41,000 crore Production-Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) of the Government of India. It is only after this scheme that iPhone manufacturing in India has increased. In 2020, the Government of India launched the PLI Scheme.

Through this scheme, companies from outside countries get an opportunity to take advantage of local manufacturing and also earn incentives on it.
