Government company Air India is now going to become private. The renowned company of India, Tata is going to buy it. According to the sources, the panel has selected Tata Group for Air India but it has not been officially confirmed yet by the sources.
At the same time, news agency ANI quoted sources as saying that Tata made the highest bid, after which Tata won. The ministerial-level panel led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the bid. Tata Group and SpiceJet had bid for Air India, but the deal with Tata Group has been finalized. It is reported by the sources that Tata will get ownership of Air India by December.
Let us tell you that Tata Airlines was founded by famous businessman JRD Tata in the year 1932 but the airlines were stopped during the Second World War. Later, when it resumed, the name of Tata Airlines was changed to Air India Limited on 29 July 1946.
When the country became independent in 1947, the government took 49 percent of Air India's participation. Later it was nationalized in the year 1953.
Let us tell you that Air India has a debt of Rs 38,366.39 crore. This information was provided by the government in response to a question in Parliament. This government information was given according to the provisional figures of 2019-20. During this, the government had also said that if Air India was not sold, the only solution would be to close it.
Tata is getting Air India after 68 years. Actually, Air India was first in the hands of Tata Group company, which was founded by JRD Tata in the year 1932. But when it was nationalized after independence in 1947, Tata Airlines bought 49 percent of its shares.
In 1953, the government purchased patents from the company's founder, JRD Tata. The company's name later became Air India International Limited. Now after 68 years, the ownership of the company will return to Tata's group. Let us tell you that at the beginning of the year 2018, the government had tried to sell Air India.
