The Narendra Modi government at the Center can increase the retirement age of central employees and the pension amount they will get. In this regard, the Universal Pension System (UPS) Economic Advisory Committee has sent a proposal to the Prime Minister. Under this proposal, it has been recommended to increase the retirement age of the employees. Along with this, the committee has also urged to start Universal Pension System.

According to the information, the central government is in deep deliberation regarding this proposal. In this proposal, the Economic Advisory Committee has recommended better arrangements for the security of senior citizens in the country. It has also been suggested that a minimum pension of Rs 2000 per month should be given to senior citizens. The committee has said that if the working-age population is to increase, then for this there is an urgent need to increase the retirement age. This can be done to reduce the pressure on the social security system.

The committee suggested skill development

In the proposal sent by the committee to the central government, it has been said that the central and state governments should make such policies, so that skill development can be done. The report suggests skill development of persons above 50 years of age. In this effort, those living in the unorganized sector, those living in remote areas, refugees, migrants, who do not have the means to get training, but have been told to be trained.

According to a report, the number of senior citizens in India is increasing continuously. By the year 2050, there will be about 32 crore senior citizens in the country. According to the report, in the year 2019, only about 10 percent of India's population, or also 140 million people came under the category of senior citizens.
