7th Pay Commission: Central Employees-Pensioners can get a Special Gift

Employees and pensioners coming under the central government can get a special gift today. The Center has called a meeting today regarding the payment of Pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears. The decision regarding the payment of arrears will be taken in this meeting. If the DA arrear payment is agreed, then it will bring big relief to lakhs of central employees and pensioners.

Officials of the Ministry of Finance, DoPT and JCM will take Decision

Officials from the Union Finance Ministry, National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) and Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) will participate in this meeting. These officers will decide on the payment of DA arrears as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. JCM secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra had informed earlier this month that a meeting would be held on June 26 regarding the payment of DA arrears.

DA will start meeting from July 1

The Central Government had recently said in Parliament that Central Employees and Pensioners will start getting DA and Dearness Relief (DR) from July 1, 2021. The Center had stopped the payment of DA and DR with effect from 1 January 2020 due to Covid-19. Due to this, the DA-DR for 18 months has not been paid to the central employees and pensioners from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

There is an increase in DA after every 6 months

The DA for central employees and pensioners is increased every 6 months. The Center has increased DA by 4% in January 2020, 3% in June 2020 and 4% in January 2021. Now it has been decided to re-implement the payment of DA with effect from 1st July 2021. This will benefit about 50 lakh central employees and 65 lakh pensioners.

Arrears will not be paid yet

Several reports have said that from July 1, 2021, the increased DA will be paid to central employees and pensioners. Whereas, the arrears of DA for the last 18 months will not be paid. At present, DA is being paid to central employees at the rate of 17%. This will increase by 11%. Central employees will be paid DA at the rate of 28% from July 1.
