The Modi government at the Center has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 3 per cent for more than 50 lakh central employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners ex-employees of the country. According to the information received from the sources, the government has taken this decision in view of the rising inflation in the country.
Let us inform you that in July 2021 last year, the dearness allowance of central employees was increased from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. Due to the Corona epidemic, the central government had banned the increase in dearness allowance for one and a half years. After July 2021, the central government had increased the dearness allowance of central employees by 3 per cent to 31 per cent in October 2021. The revised DA for central employees has come into effect from July 2021. Dearness Allowance for central government pensioners was also increased to 31 per cent with effect from July 1, 2021.
It is being told in media reports that the central government can once again increase the dearness allowance of central employees by 3 percent. With this new increase, DA will be 34 percent of the basic pay. This decision of Modi government will benefit more than 50 lakh government employees and 65 lakh pensioners.
Dearness Allowance is a component of the salary of government employees and pensioners, with the aim of mitigating the effects of inflation. The effective salary/wages of government employees is revised from time to time to deal with the rising inflation rate. The dearness allowance of central employees is increased by the government twice a year in January and July. Since dearness allowance is related to cost of living, it varies from employee to employee. It depends on which area they live in. The government fixes dearness allowance on the basis of employees living in urban area, semi-urban area and rural area.
