The death toll in the Bhiwandi Building Collapse Incident on Monday in the Bhiwandi area of Thane district in Maharashtra has been steadily increasing. So far 20 people have died in the accident at 3 am on Monday. Relief and rescue work is going on fast at the scene so far. Meanwhile, an NDRF team and the fire brigade have so far rescued 20 people alive from the debris. These include 10 men, 9 women and one child.
Five Lakh Rupees for the Family
Eknath Shinde, a minister in the Maharashtra government, visited the spot on Monday and met the injured in the hospital and assured them of better treatment. He has also announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the person who lost their lives in the accident. It was told the building was given notice on 5 February to vacate, but people did not vacate the building.
Relief and Rescue Work in Progress
The building at Patel Compound near Dhamankar Naka collapsed at 3.40 am on Monday morning while everyone else was asleep. About 20 people have been resuscitated during this period. The NDRF team reached the spot immediately after getting the information about the accident. They started taking out the people trapped in the rubble. During this time a small child was also rescued from the debris. His condition was not good, he was immediately sent to the hospital.
