BSNL Launches VRS Scheme, 80000 Employees will be Benefited!

Government telecom company BSNL has introduced VRS for its employees voluntary retirement scheme. Earlier, MTNL has also announced to give VRS to its employees.

BSNL, a long-loss state-owned telecom company, has offered VRS scheme for its employees. BSNL hopes that 70,000 to 80,000 employees will take advantage of this scheme and this will save about Rs 7000 crore in salary.

According to the information given by the company, this plan will be open till December 3. At the same time, the effective date of voluntary retirement under this scheme will be 31 January 2020. Explain that the number of employees of BSNL is 1.50 lakh.

Under VRS, employees above 53.5 years of age will get 125 per cent of their salary, which they can earn in the remaining period of their service. Apart from this, employees between 50 and 53.5 years of age will be paid 80 to 100 per cent of their salary, which they can get in the remaining period of their service. On selecting VRS, pension of employees above 55 years of age will be started only after they have completed 60 years.

According to news agency IANS, BSNL has asked its circle chiefs to make this scheme available to all officers. Under this, all the circles are to hold open house sessions, so that maximum information can be provided to the employees about this scheme. It is believed that this will make them think seriously about their retirement decision. Earlier, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) has also implemented VRS for its employees.

Explain that the government had announced a revival package of Rs 69,000 crore for BSNL and MTNL last month. This includes the merger of the two loss making public telecom companies, market their assets and give VRS to the employees.
