Indian Telecom Corporation Limited (BSNL) on Friday said that its expansion in the mobile service market increased to 10.63 percent by the end of February. BSNL operates 20 out of 22 telecom circles in the country. By March 2018, it's market share was at 10.22 percent.
BSNL's market share has increased at a time when Reliance Jio's share in the market in 2016 has led to the share of other telecom companies. In March 2016, it's market share was 9.05 percent in the license service sector and 8.35 percent across the country. BSNL's Consumer Mobility Department Director Sheetla Prasad said, "BSNL's market share has expanded in the network expansion. At the end of February 2019, the market share of BSNL increased to 10.63 percent in the service sector. '
According to a report released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, BSNL added 9 lakh subscribers during February 2019. BSNL said in the statement that the company has started 4G towers in 2018-19 and till April 2019, the work of installing 5,340 towers has been completed. Prasad said, "Customers have been welcomed with network expansion and attractive offers by connecting to BSNL. During the financial year 2018-19, more than 50 lakh people have ported their number to BSNL.
