A common criticism in India' recent growth it has been jobless and a common significant was they have to generate employment. According to the world bank, this is both fair and unfair criticism for all.

In a report the world bank extract date for than the 60 surveys and the census document from 2001 in India. It shows that India' employment rate in 2015 was only 50 percent and this rate has increased in economic growth, dispelling the nation of jobless growth.

India's economic growth in the financial year 2018 may be the slowest in four years at 6.75%, before it rebounds to between 7% and 7.5% in the next fiscal, according to the annual economic survey released by the government on January 29.

Unemployment in India is a social issue and unemployment records in India are kept by the Ministry of Labour and Employment of India. As per the constitution of India, the responsibility to provide proper gainful employment lies with the state. As of September 2018, India had 31 million jobless people.

Specifically, they calculate the 1% increased growth in India resulted in 540,000 more jobs on average. However, according to the analysis, the job creation rate was still inadequate in both the terms of quality and quantity. 


On quality, they point on the predominance of agricultural labour and the extremely modest growth in regular wage on employment, which is considered a better, steadier form of employment. On quantity, they reveal that India's employment rate is significantly below the other countries with similar per capita income.

To catch up these countries India needs to create 13.5 million jobs a year higher than current job creation.

According to the World Bank, the most promising act they have to do is improve infrastructure, especially in cities and increase India integration with the global market.
