BJP will Oppose the Imposition of Toll on the State Highway in Rajasthan

Opposition to the Government's decision to resume toll collection from private vehicles on Rajasthan's state highway has begun. Rajasthan BJP President Satish Poonia has said that the government has given this Diwali gift to the public and we will strongly oppose it. For this memorandum will be given to the district collector.

BJP state President Satish Poonia told the media that the Gehlot Government first imposed a burden on the public by increasing VAT on petrol, diesel and now re-enforcing toll has put the burden on the public once again. According to Poonia, the annual revenue of Rs 300 crore cannot be more important than the convenience of the public. Poonia also condemned the statements of Congress leaders who had brought this decision of the state government and said that BJP considers this decision as anti-people. At the same time, the Congress is imposing it on the people, considering it to be people-friendly.

Private motorists will now have to pay tax on the 15,543 km long state highway of Rajasthan. There are 150 tolls on the state's highway. Each of these costs between 40 and 55 rupees. The Ashok Gehlot Government, which is facing economic crisis, has decided to levy toll tax on the state highway. The government will generate an annual revenue of Rs 300 crore due to toll on the state highway. The previous Vasundhara Raje government had issued an order to free private vehicles from toll on the state highway on April 1, 2018. Justifying the decision to collect toll from private vehicles, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Thursday that the Vasundhara government's decision to waive toll was elections.

This decision was taken by the Vasundhara Government to take advantage in the assembly elections. He said that due to toll waiver, the government was facing huge financial burden. Everyone driving a car on the state highway is competent and can pay taxes. He said that by taking toll tax, the government will only work in the interest of the people. State Chief Secretary DB Gupta said that the government's decision is not a punishment but a relief to the people. Roads will be maintained with an amount of Rs 300 crore from toll tax. With this money, roads will be repaired. On the other hand, National Democratic Party President Hanuman Beniwal termed the decision to bring the state highway under toll tax again as anti-people and said that our party will agitate against it.
