After the results were declared in Haryana, the 90-seat assembly is in a hung state due to no party getting a substantial majority. For a majority it is necessary for any party to win 46 seats. While the BJP was leading in 40 seats, Shah said in a tweet, "The government led by Manohar Lal Khattar in Haryana made all efforts for the welfare of the people under the direction of the central leadership of Narendra Modi. I thank the people for choosing BJP as the largest party and giving us another chance to serve".
Shah also congratulated Chief Minister Khattar and Haryana BJP President Subhash Barala. Apart from this, Shah also thanked the voters of Maharashtra for maintaining their faith in the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. In Maharashtra, the alliance of these two parties has won a substantial majority. However, this time the alliance has got fewer seats than in 2014.
On the other hand, the BJP Parliamentary Board has authorized party president Amit Shah to take all decisions regarding government formation in Haryana and Maharashtra. After the assembly election results of the two states, the party parliamentary board met on Thursday evening. Party sources say that it was decided in the meeting that the current Chief Ministers of the both states will not be changed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah and other senior leaders also attended the meeting.
