BJP MP Dr. Virendra Kumar has been made the Protem Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha. He will swear by the newly elected MPs. Virendra Kumar has won four times Lok Sabha elections from the Sagar Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh and from Tikamgarh Lok Sabha seat for the third time in a row.

In 1977 Dr. Virendra Kumar became the convener of the Sagar District unit of ABVP. After this, after assuming several important positions in the party, he won the 11th Lok Sabha election in 1996. Virendra Kumar was the minister of state in the first tenure of Modi government.

Dr. Virendra Kumar comes from the Scheduled Castes. Dr. Virendra Kumar is known for his simplicity. He has done MA in Economics. Apart from this, he has a doctorate degree. He has also been the State President of Scheduled Caste Morcha.
