BJP Candidate in Assembly By-Election Beaten in Bengal

There have been reports of violence during the by-elections in three assembly seats in West Bengal. In this episode, BJP candidate Jayaprakash Majumdar from Karimpur assembly seat in Nadia district was beaten up in front of police and central force outside a polling station on Monday morning and was pushed into a bush, injuring him. The video of the beating of the BJP leader's kick is being circulated in the media. The BJP leader blamed Trinamool Congress workers for the incident.

Jayaprakash Majumdar has said that he was beaten up by the Trinamool Congress-backed miscreants. For this incident, senior BJP leader Mukul Roy demanded the immediate arrest of the district's law and order custodian DM and Superintendent of Police. There has been no response from the Trinamool Congress yet.

Votes are being cast for the by-elections in Kaliaganj, Karimpur and Kharagpur Sadar, the three assembly seats in West Bengal. A total of 18 candidates are in the fray for the three seats in Bengal. The candidates of the Trinamool Congress, BJP, CPI and Congress are trying their luck, while independents have also entered the fray.
