Bollywood’s well-known director Subhash Ghai has turned 76 years old. He was born on January 24, 1945 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Subhash Ghai wanted to become an actor since childhood, but luck established him as a brilliant director. He is called the second ‘showman’ of the industry after Raj Kapoor.
Subhash’s Childhood in Delhi
Nagpur-born Subhash Ghai was raised in Delhi as his father worked as a dentist in Delhi. He graduated from a college in Rohtak after schooling in Delhi. He then moved to the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 1963 to learn acting. After completing the acting course here, he reached Mumbai to try his luck.

There was a cultural event at FTII while studying in Pune. In which Subhash Ghai and Rehana met for the first time. There was friendship and then love between the two. Due to the different religion of both, their families objected for their marriage. However, the two did not bow down to anyone and eventually both married in 1970. After this Rehana converted her religion and became a Mukta. Subhash Ghai later started a ‘Mukta Arts’ production company. This was followed in 1978 when Subhash adopted his elder brother’s daughter Meghna. Subhash Ghai and Mukta had children of their own in 2000. They both named her Muskan Ghai.

Very few people know that Subhash Ghai started his film career as an actor. Subhash Ghai came to Mumbai to become a hero after taking film and acting training from FTII Pune. He also appeared as an actor in films like ‘Umang’ and ‘Gumrah’. But, that thing did not happen in acting, then he came in direction. However, in the fascination of the big screen, he was seen in almost all of his films in one scene.
