You will be surprised to know that Om Puri's English, who acted in Hollywood, was not up to the mark. Even his Hindi was not much better. He was educated in the Punjabi language. When he reached the National School of Drama, he lacked a lot of confidence. Due to lack of confidence, at one point he had decided that he would no longer act. But destiny had something else approved.

Om Puri suffered a lot

Om Puri had reached the National School of Drama because of his talent, but poverty was not leaving him even here. Naseeruddin Shah used to be his best friend in those days. Om Puri himself has confessed many times that if Naseer had not helped him, he would never have reached this point. Om Puri had to suffer a lot even for his average appearance.

In an interview with Doordarshan, he had told that when he reached the National School of Drama, he met Shabana Azmi. Seeing him, Shabana had said, 'How do people come to become heroes'. This was not the first time, due to smallpox stains on his face, he had to hear such criticisms many times. Om Puri's film career is huge. He played small and big roles in 319 films. These movies include movies of many languages. He has been one of the leading actors in most Hollywood films from India.
